Record Athletics Team Selected for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
The Jersey Athletics Association is delighted to congratulate the five athletes selected to represent Team Jersey at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The athletics squad forms the largest athletics team Jersey has ever sent to a Commonwealth Games and reflects the continued growth and strength of the sport on the Island.
Selected for Glasgow 2026 are:
Evan Campbell – Decathlon
Steve Mackay – Sprint Events
Jamie Oldham – Sprint Events
Zach Saunders – Sprint Events
Lucy Woodward – Heptathlon
A particularly significant milestone for Jersey athletics is the selection of both Evan Campbell and Lucy Woodward, who become the first island athletes to compete in the decathlon and heptathlon respectively at a Commonwealth Games.
The sprint squad also makes history, with Jersey fielding three sprinters at the Games for the first time. Steve Mackay, the Island's 100m record holder, will make his Commonwealth Games debut alongside Jamie Oldham and Jersey-born New Zealand-based sprinter Zach Saunders, who returns for his second Commonwealth Games appearance.
The Glasgow Games will take place from 23 July to 2 August 2026 and provide a unique opportunity for Jersey athletes to compete against some of the best performers from across the Commonwealth while proudly representing the Island on one of the biggest stages available to Jersey sport.
The athletics team is part of a 21-strong Team Jersey delegation that also includes competitors from swimming, bowls and judo. The squad includes world junior swimming champion Filip Nowacki, one of Britain's most exciting young sporting talents.
For Jersey athletes, the Commonwealth Games remain one of the highest honours available under the Island's flag. As Jersey is not an Olympic nation, the Games represent a pinnacle event where athletes can compete at international championship level while representing their Island.
The Jersey Athletics Association wishes Evan, Steve, Jamie, Zach and Lucy every success in their preparations over the coming months and looks forward to following their performances in Glasgow next summer.
We also encourage members of the athletics community to support Team Jersey throughout the Games and celebrate what promises to be a landmark occasion for Jersey athletics.
